ANTA catalog for BGP tests¶
Deprecation Notice
As part of our ongoing effort to improve the ANTA catalog and align it with best practices, we are announcing the deprecation of certain BGP tests along with a specific decorator. These will be removed in a future major release of ANTA.
What is being deprecated?
- Tests: The following BGP tests in the ANTA catalog are marked for deprecation.

- Decorator: The
check_bgp_family_enable
decorator is also being deprecated as it is no longer needed with the new refactored BGP tests.
What should you do?
We strongly recommend transitioning to the new set of BGP tests that have been introduced to replace the deprecated ones. Please refer to each test documentation on this page below.

BGP test functions
VerifyBGPEVPNCount ¶
Bases: AntaTest
Verifies all EVPN BGP sessions are established (default VRF) and the actual number of BGP EVPN neighbors is the one we expect (default VRF).
- self.result = “success” if all EVPN BGP sessions are Established and if the actual number of BGP EVPN neighbors is the one we expect.
- self.result = “failure” otherwise.

VerifyBGPIPv4UnicastCount ¶
Bases: AntaTest
Verifies all IPv4 unicast BGP sessions are established and all BGP messages queues for these sessions are empty and the actual number of BGP IPv4 unicast neighbors is the one we expect in all VRFs specified as input.
- self.result = “success” if all IPv4 unicast BGP sessions are established and if all BGP messages queues for these sessions are empty and if the actual number of BGP IPv4 unicast neighbors is equal to `number in all VRFs specified as input.

VerifyBGPPeerCount ¶
Bases: AntaTest
This test verifies the count of BGP peers for a given address family.
It supports multiple types of address families (AFI) and subsequent service families (SAFI). Please refer to the Input class attributes below for details.
Expected Results
- success: If the count of BGP peers matches the expected count for each address family and VRF.
- failure: If the count of BGP peers does not match the expected count, or if BGP is not configured for an expected VRF or address family.

VerifyBGPPeersHealth ¶
Bases: AntaTest
This test verifies the health of BGP peers.
It will validate that all BGP sessions are established and all message queues for these BGP sessions are empty for a given address family.
It supports multiple types of address families (AFI) and subsequent service families (SAFI). Please refer to the Input class attributes below for details.
Expected Results
- success: If all BGP sessions are established and all messages queues are empty for each address family and VRF.
- failure: If there are issues with any of the BGP sessions, or if BGP is not configured for an expected VRF or address family.

VerifyBGPSpecificPeers ¶
Bases: AntaTest
This test verifies the health of specific BGP peer(s).
It will validate that the BGP session is established and all message queues for this BGP session are empty for the given peer(s).
It supports multiple types of address families (AFI) and subsequent service families (SAFI). Please refer to the Input class attributes below for details.
Expected Results
- success: If the BGP session is established and all messages queues are empty for each given peer.
- failure: If the BGP session has issues or is not configured, or if BGP is not configured for an expected VRF or address family.
